Ashok Leyland Launched Advanced Electric Bus Manufacturing Plant in Andhra Pradesh

In a significant development for Andhra Pradesh’s industrial landscape, Ashok Leyland, a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer and part of the Hinduja Group, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art bus manufacturing facility near Vijayawada. This event marks a pivotal moment in the state’s journey towards becoming a hub for automotive manufacturing and sustainable transportation.

The newly established plant, located in Malavalli, approximately 40 kilometers from Vijayawada, spans 75 acres and is equipped with advanced manufacturing technologies. Designed to produce both Ashok Leyland’s diesel buses and Switch Mobility’s electric buses, the facility has an annual production capacity of 4,800 buses. It also features a modern Learning Center and an advanced Service Training Center, aiming to enhance skill development and employment opportunities in the region.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Shri Nara Lokesh, Minister of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, and Human Resource Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh. As part of the event, Ashok Leyland and the Hinduja Group handed over the keys of a Switch electric double-decker bus to the Government of Andhra Pradesh, symbolizing their shared commitment to promoting sustainable public transportation in the state.
