Simple Energy patents new ‘Family e-scooter’, aims to rival Hero Vida V1 and Ather Rizta in the urban EV race

Bengaluru-based EV innovator Simple Energy is preparing for its next big move in India’s electric two-wheeler segment. The company has filed a patent for a new “Family e-scooter,” marking its entry into the practical, family-oriented category, a shift from its performance-driven image built around the Simple One.

The upcoming scooter is designed to rival established models like the Hero Vida V1, Ather Rizta, and TVS iQube, targeting urban commuters and families seeking comfort, range, and reliability. Patent details reveal a wider seat, flat floorboard, and ergonomic design ideal for daily use, with a removable battery pack expected to deliver 120–130 km of range per charge, striking a balance between convenience and endurance.

In a parallel breakthrough, Simple Energy recently became India’s first OEM to commercially produce heavy rare-earth-free electric motors, a milestone that comes at a critical time when China has tightened exports of rare earth materials. This move strengthens India’s EV supply chain independence while showcasing Simple’s technological maturity and sustainability-first focus.

While official details about the motor and battery capacity of the new e-scooter remain under wraps, early indications suggest that the model will incorporate next-gen power electronics and smart connectivity features. The launch is expected in 2026, further broadening the company’s lineup and aligning with India’s expanding urban EV ecosystem.
