VNT unveils India’s first 1MW EV charger to supercharge fleet and heavy-duty vehicle electrification high 1

Marking a major leap for India’s EV charging infrastructure, Vrinda Nano Technologies (VNT) has launched the country’s first-ever 1MW (megawatt) electric vehicle charger, designed and developed entirely in-house. The breakthrough system is built to deliver ultra-fast charging for large commercial and heavy-duty EVs, paving the way for electrified logistics and long-haul transport.

The charger features high efficiency, dynamic load balancing, and an intelligent energy management system (EMS) that optimises energy use while reducing operational costs. According to Dr. Vikas Almadi, Managing Director and Chairman of VNT, this milestone represents a defining moment for India’s EV ecosystem, positioning the nation alongside global leaders in charging innovation.

Beyond heavy vehicles, the megawatt-scale system can charge multiple smaller EVs simultaneously using multi-connector setups, a move that enhances scalability without extensive new infrastructure. Globally, such technology is gaining traction, with similar systems launched by Sungrow, Siemens, and Autel in Europe and China.

By bringing megawatt charging to India, VNT has set the stage for a new phase of high-speed, large-capacity EV adoption, supporting both commercial fleets and the country’s ambitious decarbonisation goals.
