ZF Starts Making Smart Electric Park Brake for EVs in India ZF

ZF, a global automotive technology company, has begun making its Electric Park Brake (EPB) system right here in India. This is the first time the company is producing EPB locally for electric cars made in the country, marking a major step in India’s EV growth.

Instead of a hand-operated lever, this system works with a simple touch-button, making it easy and quiet. It ties into the car’s overall brake system so it can do things like emergency braking on two wheels, check brake pad wear, and reduce drag to help save energy. It also lowers noise and vibration for a smoother experience.

ZF says the EPB will be used in a recently launched electric vehicle platform by a leading Indian car maker. The design is modular, which means it can be scaled from small cars to light commercial vehicles. Early production is planned in the thousands of units, fulfilling ZF’s goal of supporting India’s “Make in India” vision and reducing reliance on imported parts.

Akash Passey, President of ZF India, highlighted the achievement as a milestone for vehicle safety, comfort, and performance. He emphasized that introducing such technology locally helps Indian automakers produce world-class EVs for both India and global markets.
