In a significant push toward green urban mobility, Chartered Speed, a leading passenger bus mobility services company, has partnered with EKA Mobility to deploy 1,135 electric buses under the Government of India’s Pradhan Mantri e-Bus Sewa Scheme. The partnership recently secured the Letter of Confirmation of Quantity (LOCQ) for an additional 235 buses, adding to the earlier approval of 900 buses across the country. Once fully deployed, the fleet is expected to serve more than 3.6 lakh passengers daily and create over 2,500 direct jobs, strengthening both sustainable transport and local economic development.

The newly allocated 235 e-buses will be operated across four states: 110 in Madhya Pradesh, 60 in Odisha, 35 in Chhattisgarh, and 30 in Meghalaya. Chartered Speed will handle procurement, operations, and maintenance, while EKA Mobility brings in its expertise as one of India’s leading electric commercial vehicle manufacturers. The collaboration combines operational excellence with advanced EV technology to deliver efficient, clean, and people-friendly transport solutions.

“Chartered Speed’s vision is to transform everyday travel through clean, efficient, and inclusive public transport,” said Sanyam Gandhi, Whole-Time Director, Chartered Speed. “This allocation under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme, along with our partnership with EKA Mobility, is a significant step in that direction. It reflects our commitment to easing commuting, supporting local communities, and driving India’s green mobility mission.”

Echoing the sentiment, Rohit Srivastava, Business Head & Chief Growth Officer, EKA Mobility, said: “Every bus we put on the road is a step towards reimagining India’s cities, making them smarter, greener, and more people-centric. Through the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme and our collaboration with Chartered Speed, we are proud to deploy 1,135 electric buses that will serve lakhs of citizens every day.”

With deployments planned across seven states and union territories, including Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Meghalaya, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh, this initiative reflects India’s growing commitment to decarbonising transport. By scaling up electric bus adoption, Chartered Speed and EKA Mobility are not just building a cleaner future but also reshaping India’s public transport landscape into one that is more sustainable, inclusive, and reliable
