Ather Energy expands globally with Rizta launch in Sri Lanka at Colombo Motor Show 2025

Ather Energy has taken another big step in its international expansion by launching the Rizta electric scooter in Sri Lanka at the Colombo Motor Show 2025. This marks Ather’s second global market after Nepal and highlights its growing ambition to become a leading player in the South Asian EV landscape.

The launch is made possible through a partnership with Evolution Auto Pvt. Ltd, Ather’s authorised distributor in Sri Lanka. Since its debut in December 2024, Ather has built 40 experience centres and deployed Ather Grid fast chargers across the country. The Rizta’s introduction is expected to strengthen Ather’s reach, catering to Sri Lanka’s fast-growing interest in practical and connected electric scooters.

The Rizta, designed as a family-oriented EV, features a 34-litre under-seat storage compartment, a spacious floorboard, and Ather’s SkidControl safety system. The top-end Rizta Z variant includes a 7-inch TFT display, Google Maps integration, and music and call controls, the same connected tech that made it a hit in India and Nepal.

Globally, Ather now operates in three countries – India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, with more than 4,300 fast chargers installed worldwide. Founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, the company continues to expand its presence through a blend of performance-focused 450 models and family-friendly Rizta scooters, all backed by its robust charging and service ecosystem.

The Rizta’s launch in Sri Lanka not only strengthens Ather’s brand abroad but also underscores how Indian EV manufacturers are beginning to shape global electric mobility beyond domestic borders.
