Pune-based urban mobility startup ElektrikExpress has taken a major step in its expansion journey, deploying 500 electric delivery vehicles across six key Indian cities – Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Pune, Mumbai, and Thane. The company’s goal is to scale up to 5,000 EVs by March 2026, driven by the rising demand from India’s booming quick-commerce and e-grocery sectors.

ElektrikExpress operates a diverse EV fleet that includes cargo cycles, electric two-wheelers, and electric trikes designed for efficient last-mile delivery. Each vehicle is connected through the company’s proprietary MicroLogi™ logistics intelligence system, which uses AI to predict maintenance needs and optimise routes, helping reduce fleet downtime by up to 30% during pilot operations.

In its first six months of operation, the company’s fleet has already prevented over 100 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, highlighting its environmental impact. Notably, around 70% of its rider base comprises women, reflecting ElektrikExpress’s focus on inclusivity and livelihood creation. Founder and CEO Chintamani Sardesai said the company is building “India’s most inclusive and intelligent mobility platform where safety, sustainability, and livelihood go hand in hand.”

To ensure rider safety, ElektrikExpress has partnered with Helpline Dial4567 Workforce Shield, offering emergency support, live tracking, and rapid response systems. Its multi-channel business model generates revenue through per-kilometre charges, advertising, microfinancing, and data services, in addition to delivery operations.

With the quick-commerce industry growing at a record pace, ElektrikExpress’s expansion marks a significant step in India’s shift toward sustainable, tech-driven logistics, setting a new benchmark for how electric mobility can create both economic and social impact simultaneously.
