Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Flags Off First Fleet of 59 Electric Vehicles Under Its ‘Go Green’ Drive HAL

In a major step toward sustainable mobility, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has flagged off a fleet of 59 electric vehicles (EVs) as part of its ambitious “Go Green” initiative. The official ceremony took place at HAL’s headquarters in Bengaluru, where CMD Dr. D.K. Sunil inaugurated the fleet, joined by senior company officials and regional units through a virtual link. The EVs, procured through Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), will be deployed across four key HAL locations: Bengaluru, Nashik, Koraput, and Lucknow.

The rollout of these EVs represents a significant milestone in HAL’s decarbonization strategy. By phasing out conventional internal combustion engine vehicles from its operations, the company is aiming to reduce its carbon footprint and align with national sustainability goals. The addition of electric vehicles also demonstrates HAL’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge technologies not only in aerospace but also in its day-to-day ground operations.

To ensure seamless integration of the electric fleet, HAL has installed EV charging infrastructure across all participating campuses. These stations are designed to meet the daily charging requirements of the new vehicles and are a vital part of the long-term support system for the green transition. Additionally, HAL is complementing the EV push with broader eco-conscious efforts, including the adoption of renewable energy, water conservation initiatives, enhancements to waste management, and river rejuvenation projects.

HAL’s “Go Green” drive positions the company as a frontrunner among India’s public sector units in embracing clean technology. With this move, HAL is not just modernising its transportation systems but also setting a benchmark for sustainable practices in India’s defense and aerospace sectors. As the global push for climate-resilient business models intensifies, HAL’s proactive transition signals a shift towards a cleaner, more responsible industrial future.
