Retro Icon Goes Electric: Kinetic DX Electric Scooter launched at ₹1.11 Lakh

Kinetic has brought back its beloved DX scooter in a modern electric form under its EV arm, Kinetic Watts & Volts Ltd. The DX variant is priced at ₹1,11,499 and the premium DX+ at ₹1,17,499 (ex-showroom, Pune). Bookings are open online for ₹1,000, and deliveries will begin in September 2025, with limited availability, only 35,000 units for the first year.

This scooter cleverly blends nostalgia and modern design. It echoes the classic 1980s DX with a retro silhouette, square LED headlight, and illuminated KINETIC logo but with all-new modern touches such as a full-metal body, sleek LED panels, and spacious 37 litre under‑seat storage.

Under the floorboard sits a 2.6 kWh LFP battery from Range‑X, paired with a 4.8 kW hub motor. It delivers an IDC-certified range of 116 km (up to 150 km in cruise mode at 25–30 km/h) and reaches speeds up to 90 km/h. You can switch between three ride modes, Range, Power, and Turbo for different riding needs.

The DX+ variant comes loaded with smart features: GPS tracking, geo-fencing, Find My Kinetic, intruder alerts, OTA updates, and a voice assistant that supports 16 Indian languages. Both variants offer conveniences like cruise control, hill-hold, reverse assist, Bluetooth music, keyless Easy Key access, and the Easy Charge retractable cable system (DX+).

What’s more, the scooter includes a 3‑year/30,000 km standard warranty, extendable up to 9 years or 1 lakh km, making it one of the most robust EV offerings in India.

Kinetic DX EV offers a nostalgic feel, smart tech, and practical utility all priced below ₹1.2 lakh. It goes head to head with rivals like TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1, and Ather Rizta, offering riders a unique mix of retro charm and modern EV convenience.
